Coulterville Holiday Light Display

The Coulterville Holiday Light Walk Through Display is set up in the city park in the middle of Coulterville, Illinois. It is put together by numerous volunteers. Several volunteers start cutting and painting the wooden figurines during the summer. Other volunteers show up at the park in November to help set up the hundreds of wooden figurines and string the thousands of llights that go into the park. Still other volunteers bake goodies to be given away on Saturday nights when there is a bonfire going. Also available on those nights are hot dogs, hot cocoa and hot apple cider.
The park consists of over 300 wooden figurines and over a quarter of a million lights. There is a Gingerbread Village, Santa's Playland, Santa's Farm and the Wildlife Village. There is also snowman and penguin village, as well as a patriotic area. The North Pole Express, an interactive train, was added last year. New this year will be Frosty's Movie Theater where you can come watch Christmas movies!
While driving by the park is really neat - to truly enjoy the beauty and creativity, it is best to park your car and get out and walk through the park. Here are a few pictures, though they don't do it justice. Day or night, a walk through the park is definitely worth it!
There are several events planned at the park this year.
